Throughout his 30+ year career, Steven Gorcey has refined his expertise as a practicing Gastroenterologist. He maintains qualifications from various academic institutions, including Tel Aviv University and NYU.
Always drawn to the health sciences, Steven Gorcey found himself interested in a career in medicine at an early age. While studying at Stuyvesant High School, Gorcey developed an early interest in what would eventually become his life: helping people. As interested in math and science as the prospect of caring for others, it came as no surprise when he set off to Washington University to study STEM subjects. More than 30 years later, Gorcey now maintains degrees from three prestigious universities.
Education
Steven Gorcey established the foundation of his career with the pursuit of his Bachelor of Science at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. As focused on the scientific and biological as he is in the interpersonal and human aspects of medicine, Gorcey chose to double major in Biology and Psychology. Directly following his Washington University commencement in 1981, he went on to refine his expertise with the pursuit of his Masters in Molecular Genetics. Studying at New York University in none other than the Big Apple offered Gorcey valuable insight. Following his NYU graduation, Gorcey officially earned his MD qualification at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine in 1986.
Post Graduate Training
Steven Gorcey polished his newly earned academic credentials with his postgraduate training. This offered him hands-on experience and prepared him for his career in more ways than one! Gorcey first completed an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. Directly following this experience, Gorcey was proud to be accepted into a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Winthrop University Hospital in Minneola, New York. Although he deeply values all learning experiences, his Fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital largely set the pace for the career that would follow. This experience set the foundation of his expertise in Gastroenterology. Now more than 30 years later, Gorcey has solidified himself as a respected and renowned Gastroenterologist.
